I've been involved in the music biz from the late seventies when I got caught up in the punk boom around the Belfast scene playing in bands The Detonators, The Tearjerkers and Etc .. check out www.tearjerkers.co.uk for all the gory details. I toured extensively in the UK and Ireland and was a professional musician from 1977 to 1981.

I later developed and interest in jazz and joined the Bob Dawson big band for a couple of years before forming my own small group Blue Rhythm.

First Steps 1982 - 1983
Sample ImageFirst Steps is a recording of an experimental  jazz group that I put together as I became interested in jazz music. This features the late Dermott Harland on saxophone, Alan Shields on bass. As you will hear both Dermott and Alan play extremely well despite this being their first group. All the tracks are original compositions by yours truly.

Early Recordings 1988 - 1991

Sample ImageThis album of material is again instrumental material recorded at home using more primitive cassette recording system - I really like the track Jazz which uses guitar to simulate a bass figure. Take Me Up There is a sprawling but melodic piece that I also like. Anyway you can make your own minds up.

More albums will be released on this page that will cover material from both the past and new material as it becomes available.
